(i). Improving the standards in postgraduate programmes in Health Policy & Health Systems
Enhancing the quality and relevance of postgraduate programmes to meet global standards and address current health policy and systems challenges.
(ii). Short-term courses for health ministries and health administrators/professionals
Designing and delivering targeted short-term training programmes to build capacity among health policymakers and professionals.
(iii). Implementation of new and innovative ‘teaching & learning’ approaches and methods
Examples include:
(a). Community-Based Education and Service (COBES);
(b). The “SPICES” model: Student-centred; Problem-based learning; Integrated; Community-oriented; Electives; and Systematic;
(c). Computer-Assisted Instruction & E-learning.
(iv). Hosting of Professors/Experienced health policymakers
Inviting seasoned academics and policymakers to share knowledge, mentor students, and contribute to the Institute’s programmes.
(v). Publication of research findings and facilitation of information dissemination
Ensuring that research outcomes are published in reputable journals and shared with stakeholders to inform policy and practice.
(vi). Adherence to environmental and ethical guidelines (applicable laws & guidelines)
Ensuring all activities comply with ethical standards and environmental regulations.
(vii). Establishment of evaluation and monitoring systems
Developing robust systems to assess the effectiveness of programmes and research initiatives.
(viii). Promoting research culture within the Institute
Encouraging a culture of inquiry, innovation, and evidence-based practice among faculty and students.
(ix). Supporting innovative research across disciplines
Fostering interdisciplinary research to address complex health policy and systems challenges.
(x). Increasing income from research grants and research grant pools
Securing funding through competitive grants and partnerships to support research activities.
(xi). Supporting and increasing early career researchers and postgraduate research students
Providing mentorship, resources, and opportunities to nurture the next generation of researchers and policymakers.
