The major objectives of the African Institute of Health Policy & Health Systems Team

S/No Team’s Key Objectives
1 To initiate and engage in innovative scientific research geared towards the provision of evidence leading to improvement of public health and disseminating the research findings via various kinds of publications.
2 To translate scientific research findings and evidence into policy by collaborating with relevant policy makers and stakeholders in the health sector.
3 Provision of training/mentoring to enhance the capacity to use HPSR evidence, of individuals and organizations involved in health-related issues at policy-making levels particularly the health ministries and civil society groups through workshops, seminars, symposiums, etc.
4 To produce training materials such as manuals which can be used for the training of individuals and organizations involved in health policy and systems research and in the use of evidence for policy and practice as well as other public health-related issues.
5 To seek to bridge the gap between health researchers and policymakers.
6 To source for research grants and other forms of funding that would encourage innovative research on HPSR and other related health areas that would produce evidence which can greatly impact public health.
7 To design and develop innovative HPSR methodologies that would enhance the teaching of HPSR in tertiary institutions.
8 To provide information that would consistently update HPSR methodological approaches.
9 To provide training and mentoring in the area of capacity enhancement in the use of HPSR methodologies and evidence use in policymaking.
10 To evolve a multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary approach in solving major public health challenges.
11 To establish research collaboration with regional and international partners such as researchers and funders in public health-related issues.
